Iowa Flood Information System

Iowa Map

In 2009 the Iowa Legislature established the Iowa Flood Center with the University of Iowa, and one of their flagship projects is the Iowa Flood Information System (IFIS). Using data from bridge sensors and stream gauges, this tool maps flood and precipitation so Iowans can make informed decisions about their homes and safety. Seeing the current flood conditions can help residents decide how to protect their homes, when and where to evacuate, and which areas are most at risk.
