Kaitlin Burroughs (she/her) is the Project Manager, Communities of Practice for the Data-Smart City Solutions team at The Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University, where she oversees communities of practice of senior government leaders from cities and counties across the country and manages grant-funded events. She has a keen interest in public service and works to promote innovation, equity, and transparency through her work. Kaitlin has worked at Harvard for over a decade in several roles, and prior to joining the University served as a Community Health Education Volunteer for the United States Peace Corps in Morocco. She has a degree in International Relations from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH.

Betsy Gardner (she/her) is the Editor of Data-Smart City Solutions and the Producer of the Data-Smart City Pod at The Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University. Prior to joining Data-Smart, Betsy worked in a variety of roles in higher education, including Research Programs Manager at Emerson College, Assistant Director of Training at Northeastern University, and researcher and writer at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. She has several publications through the Harvard Kennedy School Ash Center for Democratic Governance and the Lincoln Institute and has written for Government Technology and Governing Magazine. Betsy holds a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Policy from Northeastern University, a bachelor’s degree in Art History from Boston University, and a graduate certificate in Digital Storytelling from the Harvard Extension School.

Erica Ivins (she/her) is the Project Coordinator for the Community Data Health Initiative for the Data-Smart City Solutions team at The Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University. Before joining Data-Smart, Erica examined some of the most pressing issues facing Americans today in a variety of research and advocacy roles. She has worked alongside community organizers, nonprofits, government officials, and UN representatives at the African American Redress Network to support racial justice efforts around the United States. She is dedicated to centering underserved communities in environmental and public health policy to advance equity from the ground up. Erica holds a bachelor’s in History and Archaeology from Hamilton College and a master’s in Human Rights Studies from Columbia University.

Khahlil Louisy (he/him) Khahlil is a Senior Data-Smart Fellow at the Data-Smart City Solutions program at The Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University and a former Technology & Human Rights Fellow at the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School. Khahlil is an applied economist focused on issues of public and global health, economic development, and technology and innovation. His work centers on the development and application of technologies for public purpose, while researching their implications for issues of inequality, health outcomes, and human rights. He is the former Head of Global Implementation at PathCheck Foundation - an organization founded at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to develop novel technologies in response to health emergencies. He currently serves as President of the Institute for Technology and Global Health and Co-Head of AI and Technology for Public Health -Outbreaks, within the joint World Health Organization (WHO) and International Telecommunications Union (ITU) initiative on Artificial Intelligence for Health. His work has spanned several countries globally and he remains committed to issues of equality, equity, and global poverty.

Kate Murphy (she/her) is the Program Manager for Stephen Goldsmith, director of the Data-Smart City Solutions program at The Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University. She has served as scheduler to former Governor Ben Nelson of Nebraska and has worked as campaign staff on several electoral campaigns, including Bill Bradley for President and Myrth York for Governor (Rhode Island). Prior to joining Harvard, she had a career in professional photography. Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Creighton University.

Juncheng (Tony) Yang (he/him) is a doctoral student at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and research assistant for Data-Smart City Solutions. His research focuses on the institutional arrangements in the tech-enabled “smart cities” context, where emerging information technologies are reshaping citizen engagement, governance, and urban planning and design. Previously he was a researcher at the MIT Real Estate Innovation Lab and the MIT Future Urban Collectives Lab. Juncheng obtained a Master of Science in Urbanism from MIT, a MSc. in Urban Planning from the London School of Economics (LSE), where he received the Royal Geographical Society IBG research fund, and B.Arch, magna cum laude and with distinction from Rice University.
