HOLC “Redlining” Maps

Old map of Atlanta showing redlining

These maps and data visualizations show how much historic Home Owner's Loan Corporation (HOLC) redlining has influenced the demographic makeup of America’s neighborhoods. The National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC) mapped the current state of formerly redlined neighborhoods to show the lasting impacts that redlining had on minority communities. The study explored 114 different metropolitan areas across the country to compare HOLC maps from the 1930s to the socio-economic makeup of those same communities today.
