In 2016 Baton Rouge was hit with a terrible storm that led to extreme flooding, severe property damage, and several deaths. In order to understand what areas of the city-parish were worst hit, where to direct overburdened resources, and how to navigate through the storm debris. This map and data collection work sparked a broader conversation about utilizing maps for environment risks and infrastructure planning and safety at the city-parish level, and is still used today.

Dataset(s); 911 and 311 calls, Baton Rouge Fire Department search and rescue data, in-person notes on damage assessments, debris collection routes, road closure information, NOAA imagery, Civil Air Patrol imagery, FEMA DFIRM flood hazard, and comments/photos of damage from the public.
