Clean Streets Index
Through its Geohub open data platform, the City of Los Angeles developed Clean Streets LA, which visualizes the city's cleanliness by scoring individual streets from 1-3. The "street score" is based on four factors: litter, weeds, bulky items and illegal dumping. The aggregation of this data has helped the Bureau of Sanitation strategically deploy resources, such as a new dedicated Clean Streets clean-up crew that prioritizes clean routes to schools, targets illegal dumping hotspots, and installs trash cans.
