Inequality fractures the city, this map draws boundaries formed by income disparity inside Atlanta Lines are constantly being drawn across our cities, visible boundaries in the form of fences and highways, as well as invisible ones formed by discrepancies in the educational, financial and demographic makeup of our city. This map draws lines between census block groups with comparable populations whose percentile differences in median household income is more than25%. This map focuses on the differences that fracture the city rather than where poverty or wealth is concentrated. But it is worth noting that in a city that is dynamic in so many other ways, large areas of poverty and wealth remain isolated. Where poverty and wealth do intersect, at these drawn lines, are places where we are most likely to see inequality.
