Report Date: 2010

Produced For: New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez and the state legislature

Produced By: Task Force members, including public leaders with state government experience

The New Mexico Government Restructuring Task Force aimed to identify methods to increase efficiency, improve service delivery, and reduce overall government costs. With a focus on public schools and higher education, the task force studied current funding and service resources, and examined current and projected revenue estimates for the next three to five years. The task force’s short- and long-term recommendations address cost savings and provide updated organizational charts of each state government department. In addition to including references to reform processes, public comment, and interim studies on government efficiency, the task force’s report includes a listing of legislation endorsed by the task force.
