Report Date: 2016

Produced For: Philadelphia Mayor-elect Jim Kenney

Produced By: Ten committees of appointed leaders from the private and public sector

The Kenney Transition Report was commissioned by Philadelphia Mayor-elect Jim Kenney to prepare for his transition period into office. The mayor’s mission in creating the committees was to ensure that suggested recommendations fostered an accountable, accessible government. A committee of appointed Philadelphia-area leaders developed recommendations across the administration’s top ten priority areas. These policy priority areas include administrative services, commerce and economic development, community, culture and recreation, education, environment and sustainability, health and human services, housing, planning and development, immigration and multicultural affairs, infrastructure and transportation, and public safety. The committees’ work resulted in over 200 recommendations, with issues ranging from opioid addiction to vacant land, which will steer the mayor and his administration in their first year in office. The contents of the transition report uniquely address challenges and opportunities faced by a new mayor in office.
