The FCC narrowly voted to open debate over new rules concerning net neutrality. The FCC's new rules are meant to prevent Internet providers from knowingly slowing data while allowing payment for guarantees of fast service. The net neutrality rules will be open for public comment for four months.

President Obama signed the highly anticipated DATA Act into law, though as NextGov noted, Not Everyone Loves the DATA Act.
