The Vision Zero story map is a collection of maps, apps and charts which provides visual information about Vision Zero Boston. Vision Zero Boston is the commitment to focus the city's resources on proven strategies to eliminate fatal and serious traffic crashes by 2030. Believing that even one fatal crash is too many, Mayor Marty Walsh adopted Vision Zero in 2015 with the goal of making streets safer for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists. By gathering information from the public about unsafe streets and intersections and combining it with EMS and police data, the city can design effective plans for making Boston streets safer. In the first year, the speed limit has been lowered from 30 to 25 mph on many residential streets. Users can select different filters to see crashes involving pedestrians, bicyclists or motorists separately.
