 Minnesota’s Drive to Excellence initiative is a multiyear effort dedicated to the effective, efficient, and economical delivery of state government services. The inaugural Drive to Excellence projects in 2005 focused on six specific areas aimed at modernizing state government, and today the initiative continues to deliver qualitative and quantifiable improvements throughout Minnesota. The report outlines project reforms that simultaneously increase customer service and reduce the costs of government service delivery. Some of the main report reforms focus on implementing enterprise information systems for real estate and fleet management, adopting strategic sourcing best practices for goods and services, and developing an enterprise-wide online portal for state-issued professional, occupational, and business licenses. The long-term nature of this initiative uniquely positions the report to provide project results from prior reforms.
